Legend Has It

Of all the animals summoned to the Great Race, none had a greater natural advantage than the Dragon. It could fly — the river meant nothing to it. And yet the Dragon finished fifth. On its way to the finish line, it spotted a parched village below, its crops wilting in severe drought. Without hesitation, the Dragon descended and breathed great clouds of rain over the land until the fields were green again. Only then did it continue to the finish, arriving to find four animals already across. The Jade Emperor, moved by the Dragon's compassion, honored it anyway. Power wielded with generosity — that is the Dragon's enduring nature.
